I’m going yellowfin tuna fishing, and I need some bait recommendations.

Yellowfin tuna fishing bait recommendations would be mackerel, skipjack or squid. If you use this type of bait, you are going to need a number nine or ten hook that is barbed and at least three inches long. Some anglers do use artificial lures, but whatever you use, you are going to need to have some strong gear to catch the yellowfin tuna. The tuna is a big fish and even the small ones are going to put up a fierce fight. The bait is the easy part, but you need to have a rod, reel and test line to catch the tuna. You will need a two-speed reel for trolling with a test line in the fifty-pound range. The leaders will need to be strong as well. The rod is going to be the thickness of a broomstick at least. The tuna is strong and is going to test your skills as an angler. If you are going in a private boat, these tips will help. If you are going to charter a boat, the captain’s usually have all the gear and bait that is needed. Besides the bait and gear, you need to know where to find the yellowfin tuna. Do your homework before heading out on the open waters. The tuna like low light water and do hand underneath dolphin pods. They are close to the top in most cases, but you have to travel out pretty far on the water to find them. Hope this helps you.
