April Bass Fishing

Below are some of the best baits to use when fishing in April and when to use them:

*         Crankbaits are a top water lure that will truly get the attention of the bass this time of year. They can be fished close to shore and need to be reeled in slowly for the best results. Crankbaits are made to resemble an injured baitfish when it moves through the water looking like an easy target for the bass.

*         Floating worms are great for casting because when you cast your line to the strike zone it will slowly float downward moving from side to side.

*         Using a top lure called the “Yamamoto Senko” is an excellent way to start April bass fishing off on the right foot. These are soft plastic worms which are pre-weighted down with sand before you buy them. These lures are very productive during this time of year and can be used in medium to shallow waters. The largemouth bass are especially attracted to them.

*         Spinnerbaits are great casting lures that can be used quite successfully. When fishing close to the shore the white, chartreuse and yellow colors work the best. Cast them above the strike zone and retrieve them back in with a slow steady speed.

These are some of the most well-known baits that have proven to be successful when fishing in April. Of course, you can always do some experimenting to find out what works the best in your particular area. Trying different things is part of the fun and it’s especially exciting when you reel in a good size bass with something that you decided to try out for the first time.

Bass fishing is one of the most popular sports in the world and it’s enjoyed by anglers of all ages and skill levels. The information above can help you be more productive so you can get the most out of all your bass fishing trips from the very beginning of the season to the end.
