Live fish bait traps- This is another way to help you catch live fish for bait. These traps make catching live bait really easy. Basically all you have to do is place the traps in the right area and come back for them later.

You can find these online as well as in many local bait and tackle or fishing shops.

Fish for bait in the area of your target fish- If you’re looking for bait fish for a particular species of fish that you really want to fish for, it’s suggested that you fish around the same area for bait as you would fish for your target fish. It’s just natural that they will both be found in the same location.

When catching bait fish, don’t leave them down in the water too long or bigger fish can come along and snatch them right away from you, along with your rig.

Always remember the importance of having something to keep the bait fish alive. Live bait will do you no good if you let it all die before you get to fish with it. If your boat does not have special sections for bait fish or if you are not fishing on your boat, be sure to have buckets of water for keeping your live bait fish.

Of course these techniques will also depend on which type of bait fish you are after. If you are seeking a particular type of bait fish, all of these techniques will not work for your particular scenario.  Remember that with the right tactics and some patience and skill, you can catch the bait fish you need to enjoy a great day of fishing.
